Codex pets guide

OpenAI Codex Pets: Animated Companions, Gallery, and Downloads

Codex pets are optional animated companions for OpenAI Codex. They appear as a floating overlay in the Codex app, act as a friendly status indicator, and help track background tasks while coding. Custom pets keep the character preview, pet.json, spritesheet.webp, and install command together so people can inspect the pet before adding it to Codex.

CodingPets.dev focuses on the public gallery and custom Codex pet workflow: browse animated pixel sprites, download shareable pet packages, preview states, or create a pet from a photo. Use this guide cluster for Codex pets, OpenAI Codex pets, custom Codex pets, and Codex pet gallery searches.

Browse ready pets

Use the public gallery to preview Codex pets, inspect their style and 9 animation states, then copy the install command or open the detail page.
